SONY NWE305B 512MB MP3 WALKMAN FM TUNER FINISHED BLACK

Edited by: Jasmine FranceReviewed on 10/18/05 Sony is working hard to reestablish itself as a leader--or at least a competitor--in the portable music market. First, it added native MP3 support to its players, starting with the NW-S23 S2 Sports Network Walkman series. Next came the übersleek E400 series, followed by lower prices across the board--an effort to compete more aggressively with Apple's iPods. Now, with the arrival of the Walkman Bean NW-E300 series, Sony tackles the iPod Shuffle head-on with hip design, lots more features, amazing battery life, and an affordable price. Sony also wisely banished the awkward, off-putting word Network from the product's branding. Unfortunately, these positive moves can't overcome the player's poor controls, awkward interface, hiss-filled playback, and steadfast reliance on Sony's weak SonicStage software. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-clothes4u.comThe 512MB NW-E305 comes in Coconut White and Tropical Ice Blue, while the 1GB NW-E307 comes in Black Licorice and, especially for the girls, Cotton Candy Pink. Sony has already lowered prices since announcing the Beans in August; you'll pay $119.95 and $149.95 for the 512MB and 1GB versions, respectively. It'll come as little surprise that the Bean is shaped like, well, a bean--specifically, a kidney bean, with rounded edges and a slight bend in the middle. Although we applaud Sony's attempt at innovative design, there's nothing particularly practical about a bean-shaped audio player. If anything, the device is harder to hold and manipulate than it should be. It is adorable, though. The Sony Bean has a small but very bright one-line OLED screen, a five-way D-pad controller, and three buttons, two of which are maddeningly stiff and shallow. A sliding plastic cover reveals a retractable, pop-out USB connector. That's handy, but the cover itself is a problem. When you close it all the way, it engages the player's Hold mode. To disable Hold, you have to nudge the cover back a notch, at which point it wobbles loosely and easily pops open again. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-sunglasses4u.comAlthough the screen gives the Sony Walkman Bean an immediate edge over the iPod Shuffle, its tiny size limits its value. Song navigation is fairly straightforward: press the up or down arrow on the D-pad to scroll through your playlist. But it takes considerable effort to figure out the complicated one-line menu system. Sony's kooky terminology doesn't help. For example, an option called Sound has three settings: Off, 1, and 2. You'll need lots of luck figuring out what any of that means without consulting the electronic manual. The Sony Bean's other key advantage over the iPod Shuffle is its FM tuner, which allows for both manual and automatic preset selection (up to 30 presets total). You can't record radio, however, and again the controls make for somewhat awkward operation. The Sony NW-E300 series supports direct playback of MP3, WAV, and ATRAC3 audio files; Sony's Connect music store uses the last of those. The player also supports unprotected WMA files--as long as they're first wrung through SonicStage for ATRAC3 conversion. Obviously we'd prefer protected-WMA support, which would permit access to a wide range of online stores. But to be fair, the iPod Shuffle has a similar limitation. The difference is in the software: Apple's iTunes is a robust, appealing music manager/store interface, while Sony's SonicStage remains a slow, clunky, relatively limited application. It took more than five minutes to import our 10GB collection of MP3s, which is an unusually long time. And SonicStage is just generally unintuitive to use, with a design that smacks of midgrade shareware. The exception is the nicely presented Connect music store, which you can sample thanks to a coupon that Sony includes with the Bean for five free tracks. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-skigoggles4u.comUltimately, any audio player must be judged by its sound quality. Note to Sony: Loud doesn't equal good. Although the Bean can play really loud (concerned listeners should enable its volume-limiting feature), it suffers from noticeable background hiss. Our sample MP3 and Connect ATRAC3 tracks sounded quite good overall, especially when we ditched Sony's bass-deficient white earbuds, but the hiss was distracting, notably in quieter tunes. Thankfully, FM radio suffered no such problem, and reception was excellent. In CNET Labs' tests, the Sony Bean transferred files at a disappointing 0.61MB per second. Even deleting songs from the device seemed to take forever: nearly three minutes to remove just two dozen songs. However, the player more than redeemed itself with its incredible battery life of a bit less than 47 hours. That's not quite the 50 hours Sony promises, but it's outstanding all the same. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-watches4u.com -
SONYS2 SPORTS WALKMAN NW-S203F 1 GB PINK

You are reading this blog on www.vendesi-direct.com the webs newest e-commerce site.My day to day MP3 player is the Sony Network Walkman NW-E507. I love this player, and I feel it was severely overlooked in the market, and too quickly replaced by Sony. However, despite its lack of media coverage, any of my friends who has seen it has instantly wanted one and a couple of them even bought one.The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-clothes4u.comThe new Sony Network Walkman NW-S203F is very different. Although it is a similar MP3 player, it is pitched entirely at sporting types, with specific features to help.Weighing in at an amazing 26g, it's lighter than my bunch of keys - even the smaller set (house and shed keys) that I usually detach when I'm going riding. It actually feels quite similar to some remote controls I've seen with some devices – let alone a player by itself. It's available in 512MB, 1GB and 2GB varieties - my review sample featured 1GB.The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-sunglasses4u.comMuch like the E507, it uses a three tiered toggle switch for selecting tracks. Pull it all the way to the outside edge and you can select the album (by twisting it like the accelerator on a motorbike). The middle is for selecting the track, and the final position is hold. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-skigoggles4u.comThe play and stop button is pretty obvious, but also doubles up for selecting options in the menu. I find the button a little on the small side, unlike the E507 which has a much bigger button that is very thumb friendly. Although this is curved in an attempt at ergonomics, its thin feel and harsh edging irritates my thumb. The headphone socket is at the top of the player, by the jog dial. The other end of the player twists off to reveal a mini-USB connector, with the top held on via a tough looking piece of plastic. However, the USB connector is inset into the body of the player which means you can't use a standard mini-USB cable, it needs to have a slightly longer connector. Looking round the office, I found that we had a good mixture of both varieties, so this is hardly proprietary on Sony's front. But it does mean that when you go to charge your device at a friends house, their cable might not fit. It's still better than having a proprietary cable though. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-watches4u.com -
SONY SVRS500 FREEVIEW DTV PERSONAL VIDEO RECORDER
3:07 AM PST, 4/15/2008
You are reading this blog on www.vendesi-direct.com the webs newest e-commerce site.ByWe bought a Panasonic DVD-RAM recorder when they first became available, and it's OK. It has various drawbacks which this box completely fixes.
1. this box has 2 digital tuners. You can record 2 digital programmes simultaneously, whilst watching a previously recorded programme. That's very good.
2. The EPG is dead handy, I sit for 20 minutes once a week and set a few recordings. I rarely 'see what's on telly' these days - I've got the week's choice to hand all the time.
3. The 'pause live telly' thing is fantastic for the kids during the day and for us in the evening.
4. The menu of recorded programmes is very useful too.The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-sunglasses4u.comThere are some irritations - the menus are a bit slow, after you've set a recording from the EPG it returns to the current channel & date so you have to re-adjust, and it has 'frozen' once - I unplugged for 10 secs and all was well. I don't find the fan annoying at all (those people must live alone in cotton-wool lined flats) and all in all this is the best £80 I've ever spent.
Two things to note - the picture quality was initially poor, then I changed the 'SCART type' menu setting to RGB and the picture's perfect. Second, we are in a poor digital reception area and have a booster for the television digital tuner. This box didn't like that, it gave us erratic picture quality and often dropped the signal completely. I removed the booster and with a just length of coax the signal's good enough for the tuners in this box to work perfectly all the time - of course we can't use the telly tuner any more, but we don't anyway because we use this all the time instead because it's so good.
Highly recommended. It immediately becomes natural and what a relief to be in control of our TV viewing.ByI can not understand the negative comments in some of the reviews for this product. I have had mine for four months and so far it has worked perfectly. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-skigoggles4u.comOther reviewers have made the following points which I disagree with:-
1. "The fan never goes off and is very noisy" - The fan does make a noise but you don't notice it while the TV is on and it switches off within two minutes of the unit being put on standby.
2. "The EPG only gives titles, not programme info" - EPG functions fine on all channels with info available by pressing one button. This is stored along with titles on all recordings.
3. "If you change the time of a recording from that published in the EPG you have to enter title manually" - This is not the case. I have even started to record halfway through a programme and still got title and info. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-clothes4u.comThe two freeview are tuners are invaluable as once the analogue signal is switched off it will be one of the only ways to record something other than what you're watching.
In short, I would recommend it to anybody who wants to throw their old VHS tapes away!ByI nearly didn't buy this machine because of some of the reviews but I am so glad I did! You can't hear it and there are absolutely no problems with anything. It is very easy to use and love being able to record two programs whilst watching another. I really can't understand the negative reviews as they do not relate to my experience at all.The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-watches4u.com -
SONY RDR-HX525 80 GB DVD RECORDER HDD RECORDER
3:00 AM PST, 4/15/2008
You are reading this blog on www.vendesi-direct.com the webs newest e-commerce site.ByI've had one of these since May and found it has a few niggling faults.
To start with, it won't play a DVD that hasn't got a title, it just gives a helpful message "DVD has no title". While it's rare for commercial DVDs to be titleless (one example is Network's "Ace of Wands"), it also means it won't play any of my home videos created from my camera.
The machine is very slow to respond. Switching it on from standby can take an age. I think it depends on how much is on the HDD or if there is a DVD in, but it really can take up to 45 seconds to get going, which is a long time when you want to record something in a hurry. Often you think nothing is happening so you press "on" again which makes things even worse because it remembers, then when it does finally stagger into life it immediately goes off again! The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-clothes4u.comThe Guide+ system can only dowload from analogue ITV1, which means you must connect the arial and have a decent analogue picture. I don't know what will happen when analogue broadcasts cease.
Additionally my player had a habit of crashing when doing "time shift", playback and now, after seven months, it has failed altogether. I'll be looking to replace it with something non-Sony.ByThis device does exactly what I hoped it would - once I got it set up correctly (which took several days) and which is why I decided to write a review on here to help others!
First, the review part. Superb quality HDD recording, and the Guide Plus system makes recording a snap - choose the programme you want to record using the on-screen menu which lists the TV schedules and press one button. And that's it! The schedules include terrestrial TV and Sky channels. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-sunglasses4u.comWorks well with a Sky Digibox and automatically changes the channel on the Sky box at the right time! No more taping the wrong Sky channel!
Supports just about every DVD format you can imagine, and transferring from HDD to DVD is just a few steps. A friend of mine has one of these machines and has transferred home video to DVD successfully and easily.
OK, that's enough "how great it is" ... now the hard part - Setup.
The manual is rubbish - full of confusing cross references and inconsistent terminology. But read it very carefully and the information you need is there although you need to be a bit of a code-breaker to get it! This took me days of deciphering to get the setup right. Once I did, wow, then you see what a great machine this is!The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-skigoggles4u.comDO connect a terrestrial ariel to the Sony as this enables it to automatically pick up the correct Date and Time and receive TV schedule listings overnight from the ITV channel. Do this before runing the First Time Setup. Or connect your ariel then run Setup again.
DO Connect the Scart lead from you Sky Digibox to the Sony L3 connector and use L1 to connect the Sony to your TV. Ignore advice which says otherwise!
If you have a Sky box connected to L3, then DO refer to the manual page 30 and set up your video inputs like this: L1 Output = Video, L3 Input = Video/RGB, L3 Output = Video. If you don't set it up like this, you can't record from Sky on L3 and you can't pause live (Sky) TV. DO NOT SET L3 Input to Decoder. But I hear you say, I have a Sky decoder so L3 should be set to Decoder. Well, no, because by "Decoder" it means a Canal+ Analogue decoder not a Sky decoder (look at the manual page 29 it says you will not be able to select L3 if L3 is set to decoder). This ONE step eludes most people and is the key to getting the machine working properly with Sky.
DO set Guide Plus to download TV schedules from ITV, not Eurosport.
Finally, DO have a look at the Guide Plus website which is packed with great information on how to get the best out of the system (whereas the Sony manual is again poor in this area). See [...]
I hope get it set up correctly then you will come to love this machine as I do!The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-watches4u.com -
SONY DCR-DVD205 -HANDY CAM WIDESCREEN CAMCORDER
2:59 AM PST, 4/15/2008
You are reading this blog on www.vendesi-direct.com the webs newest e-commerce site. This review is courtesy of www.Cnet.com and Lori GruninReviewed by: Lori GruninReviewed on 8/9/06 Release date: 1/19/06 One step above Sony's bottom-of-the-line DVD105, the Handycam DCR-DVD205 is essentially the Handycam DCR-DVD305 without the impractical extras: standard stereo recording rather than Dolby 5.1, no media slot for still photos--they're saved to the DVD instead--no accessory shoe, and no analog input for copying your old tapes to DVD.The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-sunglasses4u.comThe one dubious omission in the DVD205 is a USB connector, but that's mostly a problem if, like me, you work on a laptop with no DVD drive. The DVD205 is a little more compact, a little more cheaply constructed, with a slightly smaller 2.5-inch LCD. Since the 2.7-inch LCD on several of the higher-end models is small enough to aggravate the pain of the touch-screen interface, 2.5 inches doesn't seem significantly worse. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-clothes4u.comThe two models share the same 1-megapixel CCD and 12X zoom lens, and as with the DVD305, that means a subpar 690,000 pixels used to capture video and 1-megapixel stills. So, unsurprisingly, the DVD205's video and still quality mimics that of the DVD305; they're pretty mediocre, with rampant edge crawl, noise, and motion artifacts. On the upside, it also means that it shares some of the DVD305's finer points, such as the support for wide-screen video as well as its reasonably fast autofocus and autoexposure systems. The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-skigoggles4u.comThere aren't any really decent DVD camcorders in the same price range as the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD205, but you can find better ones, such as the Hitachi DZ-GX3200A. And if you pry your wallet open just a bit further and shop around, you can get a significantly better model, such as the Canon DC40 or the Sony Handycam DCR-DVD405.The writer of this may also have visited www.designer-watches4u.com -

Set out below are some reviews courtesy of the review centre www.reviewcentre.comYou are viewing this review on a blog provided by www.vendesi-direct.comFull review by Guest. on 20th Dec 2007 User Rating : 7 Respect : 0 Good Points: Easy to use and TV listing and set up to record very good. Picture and sound quality most pleasing. Bad Points: I will be most wary of buying Sony products in future, in fact I am going to steer clear. General comments: This was bought new in October 2006, and I did not take an 'instore warranty' and we did not get an offer to extend the warranty at about 11 months as one does with many purchases - silly me because after 56 weeks the hard disc drive failed with HD ERROR and it does not respond to the 'trouble shooting' guide. It seems that in such a case 'you're on your own baby', because to get it repaired by Sony is extremely hard. The retail store was not an accredited repairer. We have had bad experiences of Sony products this year. A new Sony laptop was faulty and so were two subsequent replacements, so this DVD is only following the trend I suppose!
